Free School Travel
To select Alpine Charters please choose OKF Holdings under Bus Operator.
Currently Alpine Charters do not issue School Bus Passes or Opal Cards.
School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) is a scheme administered by Transport for NSW in conjunction with schools and transport companies to enable eligible students to travel to and from school at no cost to the parents or guardians.
Briefly, if the student lives a certain distance from school, as noted below, they are entitled to free travel within our area.
Kindergarten to Year 2 - No minimum walking distance criteria applies to these students.
Primary school students from Years 3 to 6 - The straight line distance from their home address to school is more than 1.6 km (1 mile) or the walking distance from home to school is 2.3 km or further.
Secondary school students from Years 7 to 12 - The straight line distance from their home address to school is more than 2 km (1.24 miles), or the walking distance from home to school is 2.9 km or further.
What if my application is unsuccessful?
Briefly students who are not eligible for a free school travel pass can:

purchase a School Term Bus Pass

travel on child fares

request a review
How to request a review
You can request a review by clicking on the ‘Request a review’ link in your application status screen. Alternatively, you can request a review via the SSTS website,using your application ID.
Transport for NSW assesses each application on its individual merits. It will take into account:

The original assessment of the straight line (radial) distance between the student's home and school.

The walking route the student will take to travel between home and school. More information can be found on TfNSW web page Determining the safety of a walking route to school or nearest transport pickup point. See link above.

Any medical condition and supporting evidence.
