Snowy Mountains

The Snowy Mountains is Australia's ultimate, year-round, nature and adventure playground. From the exhilaration of a snow experience, to the culture and exquisite tastes of our communities. From unique landscapes, spectacular lakes and high-country beauty, to the many and various activities and events for all ages. It is the home to Mt Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest mountain.

There is plenty to see and do in the Snowy Mountains area.

Take in the plains of the region on horseback and enjoy the area’s diverse landscape. There’s plenty of native flora and fauna waiting to be discovered. Visit a local vineyard or enjoy the many cafés in the area.

The Snowy Mountains is a haven for a wide range of outdoor activities including bushwalkingfishing and mountain biking.

Perisher

Perisher is the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, and is made up of Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega. This beautiful area covers around 1,245 hectares. Open, from early June until early October, there is never a dull moment from the time the winter season kicks off.

 

Explore more of the picturesque Snowy Mountains on a cross- country skiing adventure. Perisher has an extensive network of more than 100 km of marked trails that weave through the magical snow gums. Snowshoeing is also a perfect way to discover Australia’s unique wilderness and wildlife.

 

Thredbo

Nestled in a pretty valley with the Thredbo River flowing through, Thredbo is famous for its impressive snowy terrain, spectacular alpine village and adventure activities available all year round.  It covers around 480 hectares.

Thredbo’s beauty also shines throughout summer. The Kosciuszko Express Chairlift makes the climb to the top of Mt Kosciuszko that little bit easier.  Thredbo has an extensive network of mountain bike and hiking trails, try your hand at fly fishing or enjoy a round of golf at Australia’s highest golf course. Thredbo plays host to events year round such as the Snowy Mountains Country Music Festival, Thredbo Blues Festival and Kids School Holidays Adventure Festival.
